Of Counsel

For over 36 years, Steve has dedicated his legal career to solving problems, whether in the courtroom, arbitration, mediation, or other client interactions.

The hallmark of his approach has always been practical common sense, honed from years of trials and client disputes. He has taken great pride in helping clients move forward with their business or personal lives.

Having practiced since 1988, Steve has been gradually transitioning out of the active practice of law. While Steve is no longer taking on new litigation matters, his work now centers on three main areas:

  1. Acting as General and Ethics Counsel for Ruder Ware: Steve provides legal advice on various issues affecting the firm, including regulatory compliance and risk management. He also advises on professional conduct, helping the firm navigate ethical dilemmas and maintain high standards.
  2. Mentoring Other Attorneys at the Firm: Steve shares his extensive experience with younger attorneys offering practical advice and insights to help them develop their skills and grow professionally.
  3. Mediating Cases for Attorneys Outside of Ruder Ware: Steve acts as a neutral third party to facilitate the resolution of disputes, drawing on his extensive experience in conflict resolution. By mediating cases, Steve helps parties find mutually agreeable solutions, reducing the need for prolonged litigation and promoting a more collaborative approach to resolving legal conflicts.

With his new, more relaxed pace, Steve is now able to enjoy some of his favorite hobbies – fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. He and his wife seize every opportunity to do fun activities with their grown children.
