Sam brings a litigator’s eye to workforce, compliance, and business problems.

Sam helps employers, businesses, and individuals navigate disputes, immigration issues, and workforce compliance challenges with practical, fact-driven advice. As a litigator, Sam is focused on the record: what can be proven, what risks need to be managed, and what strategy best advances the client’s goals.

Sam’s practice includes litigation and dispute resolution, along with immigration and compliance matters. He advises clients on immigrant and non-immigrant visas, citizenship, I-9 compliance, and related issues. He regularly works with employers in agriculture, manufacturing, health care, hospitality, food service, and other industries that face recurring workforce and compliance challenges.

Sam also represents clients in business, employment, property, fiduciary, trust, and estate-related disputes. His litigation background shapes the way he approaches compliance issues: build the record early, identify the pressure points, and help clients make decisions that are both practical and defensible.

Sam frequently writes and speaks on topics affecting employers, including employment eligibility verification, sponsorship, and visa and industry specific compliance issues. He enjoys helping employers and HR professionals translate complex legal rules into clear next steps.

Before joining Ruder Ware, Sam practiced with a respected Fox Valley law firm, where he handled business, employment, property, and fiduciary matters. His earlier work as a paralegal at a boutique Minneapolis immigration firm continues to inform his practical, human-centered approach to immigration and compliance matters.

Each month, Sam connects with the Fabulous Farm Babe, Pam Janke, to discuss immigration issues for Mid-West Farm Report listeners.

Outside the office, Sam enjoys golf, curling, and fantasy football. Like all former Minnesotans should, Sam joined the Packers faithful immediately upon his first crossing of the St. Croix River.
