Opening Keynote Presentation:
Culture of Engagement:  Why/How to Build Passionate and Engaged Teams – Joshua Evans, Better Workplaces, Better World™

Each of us began our careers from a passionate place. On our first day of work every one of us was excited, intrigued, and joyful. However, with such demanding roles, it easy for us to lose sight of our initial enthusiasm. Recent Gallup Poll Studies have estimated that on average, only 30% of an organization’s staff are truly engaged in their work. This correlates to 70% of people at any given organization being disengaged. The question becomes: How can we can find away to reignite our passion and recommit to our roles in the organization? If we can, then we can create environments that cultivate engagement, reduce turnover, and increase overall workplace satisfaction. In this session learn how to become a positive catalyst, collaborate enthusiastically, and build a peerless culture of authentic engagement that inspires the team you work with.

Morning Legal Workshop:
American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 – What You Need to Know About the New COBRA Subsidies –  Ruder Ware Attorney Mary Ellen Schill

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), which was signed into law on March 11, 2021, provides substantial assistance in maintaining health care coverage for individuals who may have lost that coverage in connection with the Coronavirus Disease2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This assistance takes the form of 100% subsidized premiums for health care continuation coverage under COBRA for “assistance eligible individuals” (AEIs) and their dependents from April 1, 2021, to September 30, 2021 (i.e., the “premium assistance period:).

Afternoon Legal Workshop:
“What’s Hot-What’s Not” in Employment Law! – Ruder Ware Attorneys Sara Ackermann and Nicole Stangl

Sara and Nicole will discuss litigation trends and what they see as “hot” areas of which you should be aware as an HR Professional.

Closing Presentation:
Wielding Influence in Your Organization:  How HR Professionals Can Gain Authority (and Not Just Responsibility) – Joshua Evans, Better Workplaces, Better World™

HR professionals have the rare ability to see all facets of their organization. From their vantage point, they have intrinsic knowledge of what works and what needs to be improved. However, the largest challenge Human Resources faces is gaining the influence to evoke the change that’s necessary within their company.  Have you ever had a great new initiative planned for your organization, but were unable to convince leadership to give their support? Learn how to subtly wield influence for positive change in your organization.
