Lon Roberts joined Ruder Ware in 1973 and concentrated his practice in business and commercial law, primarily in the areas of corporate mergers and acquisitions, finance, and private equity capital transactions.
Lon served as the firm’s president from 1999 – 2010. Governor Walker appointed Lon E. Roberts to the position of Secretary of the Department of Financial Institutions on February 29, 2016. Previously, Lon served as chair of the State of Wisconsin Investment Board in 2012 and a committee member of the Judicial Selection Advisory Committee in 2011 – both of these appointments concluded with his appointment to the DFI. Effective March 1, 2017 the Governor appointed Lon to the Public Service Commission of the State of Wisconsin and appointed him Chairman in March 2018. Lon retired from public service as of December 27, 2018.
