Planning for how you or a loved one will pay for nursing home care can be a daunting task. As an elder law attorney, Aric works with seniors and their loved ones to prepare for possible long-term care needs.
His goal is to alleviate stress by helping clients develop a plan to provide for their long-term care needs, while preserving their assets to supplement their quality of life and pass to future generations. His motivation is to find solutions for clients who are preparing for future life transition and care needs or are in need of immediate qualification for medical assistance benefits.
Most recently, Aric has helped:
- Qualify clients for Family Care so they could receive in-home care benefits and pay for an assisted living facility
- Qualify clients for Medicaid so they could receive nursing home care
- Preserve proceeds from sale of mother’s home so she could maintain her medical assistance benefits and quality of life
- Pass down a second-generation family cabin to the third generation without crippling tax consequences
- Utilize a special needs trust to preserve assets and maintain medical assistance benefits
- Create a custom power of attorney to ensure a client’s plans would be carried out if they were unable to do so.
Aric principally advises clients in the areas of elder law, including use of irrevocable trusts for asset protection, medical assistance eligibility, and special needs trusts. In addition, Aric counsels clients on estate and trust planning, taxation, powers of attorney, probate, and trust administration. He is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Aric is active within the professional elder law community. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), as well as Wisconsin’s State NAELA chapter (WINAELA). He is also a member of the Elder Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
Aric and his wife, Molly, are busy parents, proud of their seven children. When not chasing after his children, Aric likes to spend time hiking, fishing, and golfing with them. He also serves on the board for Faith Christian Academy.
