Effective June 1, 2006, the minimum wage for workers in Wisconsin will increase by $.80 from $5.70 per hour to $6.50 per hour. The minimum wage for minors will increase by $.60 from $5.30 per hour to $5.90 per hour. The June 1 increase completes the two-part "phase in" of a higher minimum wage that began last year. Wisconsin’s minimum hourly wage remains higher than the minimum hourly wage required under federal law.
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has created a new Wisconsin minimum wage poster that employers should post. The poster can be obtained by calling DWD or through the link found at http://www.dwd.state.wi.us/er/labor_standards_bureau/default.htm.
