HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

Ruder Ware, a continuously growing business law firm with offices in both Wausau and Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is seeking a talented individual to fill a full-time Human Resources Director position.  The Human Resources Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with all human resource laws and regulations, supervision of office services staff as well as paralegals and legal assistants, salary administration, and expense management for assigned departments.  The Human Resources Director also coordinates recruiting and training for all positions in addition to monitoring best practices for overall compensation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate recruiting for all positions in the firm.
  2. Develop and maintain human resource policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Develop and administer the company’s salary plan, maintain accurate salary and benefit records, and manage the administration of the biweekly payroll process.
  4. Administer and annually review various employee benefits programs and assist employees with benefits claims.
  5. Manage the orientation and training process for all new employees.
  6. Prepare and administer an annual budget for applicable departments or units.
  7. Prepare an annual personal business plan consistent with firm goals and operating procedures.  Report on business plan progress throughout the year as requested.
  8. Provide management and oversight of the reception, office services, legal assistant, and paralegal staff.
  9. Presentations on HR-related topics to groups such as employees, industry and/or legal organizations, and to clients.
  10. Prepare management reports to accurately convey the status of payroll and benefits processes as necessary.
  11. Work constructively and efficiently with other members of the administrative team to provide seamless assistance to internal and external clients

Minimum Education Required:  Bachelor’s degree with a major in Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum Related Years of Experience Required:  At least 5 years of diversified, progressive experience in human resources with law firm management preferred.
