Professional Experience:
Patrick Bodden divides his practice between providing counsel to businesses and individuals. As an estate planner, Patrick has particular talent advising family businesses on their succession plans. He is able to balance the sensitive personal issues that are intertwined with a family business to create uniquely tailored plans using sophisticated estate planning techniques. Working with individuals, Patrick drafts wills and estate plans that accurately capture a client’s life plan while maximizing tax opportunities.
Patrick also assists entrepreneurs in the formation, operation, and growth of their businesses. His extensive knowledge of the legal and business issues surrounding business entities provides the ideal backdrop for assisting business owners with drafting and reviewing agreements and resolving disputes. Recently, Patrick has been involved in a number of ownership disputes including the successful litigation of a derivative action and attaining a court order that allowed a client to continue operating when his business was in jeopardy.
In addition, Patrick is a member of the firm’s Health Care Focus Team where he concentrates on regulatory and transactional health care issues and the impact of Wisconsin laws on health care providers. He was recently involved in drafting surgical services, physician recruitment, and lease agreements for an arrangement between an independent clinic and a hospital. Patrick assisted a group with the formation of a purchasing organization along with the corresponding participation and vendor agreements. In addition, he assisted an independent clinic with the exploration of acquiring a physician’s practice. From these experiences, he has gained an expertise in Stark and Anti-kickback Laws.
